Personal: Airport Scenes

Disclaimer: This is based in a random shower thought.

Today, I woke up at around 4:30am. I was hungry or at least thirsty. When I went out of the room, I saw my aunt washing her face, my cousin – who, I thought, just finished her laundry and my sister reviewing for her special examination. I went back to bed and slept for another hour.

I woke up again at around 5:30am. I started to prepare for another day in the office. When I went to my cousin’s room to check her and my aunt, I only saw my cousin. Then I realized, it’s my aunt’s flight back to Lebanon. Side note: She came home almost a month ago for my cousin’s graduation.

While having shower, airport scenes made flashbacks – the sadness of Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) leaving the country for their work abroad, the mixed emotions of people leaving for tour, the tears, may it be of joy or of pure melancholy, at check-in counters or lounges, while boarding or right before the plane takes off and even when the plane’s already in the sky.

I just wonder what and how my aunt’s doing right now.
